So what does it do? The lymphatic system includes your spleen, thymus, lymph nodes and lymph channels, as well as your tonsils and adenoids.  In a nutshell It helps keep cells irrigated, but drain away toxins and metabolic waste.  It also transports nutrients and drains excess fluid and proteins away to prevent tissue from swelling.

I am sure you know what your lymph nodes are.  They are where the waste material is filtered out.  That is why they swell when an infection occurs in a near by site.  They have to clear the increase of waste materials.

It also plays a role in the transport of fatty acids and other substances, helping the digestive tract process food more efficiently.

When your lymphatic system is not working properly you body develops more cellulite too! Good to know!

How is the skin involved?

Langerhans cells are part of the lymphatic system that work on protecting the skin. They play a vital role in sustaining skin integrity by recognizing aggressors and providing defensive and regulating functions. Shiseido has created a new product called Ultimune that is the first and only product ever created to directly approach Langerhans cells to enhance the power source behind your skin’s immunity.  This could be a big breakthrough in skin care!
